What is Tajwid? The Importance of Reciting the Holy Quran Correctly

Giving Letters Their Due: The Science of Tajwid

Tajwid literally means 'to make something beautiful.' As an Islamic term, it refers to reciting the Holy Quran by paying attention to the articulation points (makhraj) of the letters and in accordance with their attributes. The Holy Quran is an invitation to the divine word, and it is a necessity to read it with the nuances of the language it was revealed in.

Why Learn Tajwid?

Arabic is a language where letter changes or prolongations can completely change the meaning. Therefore, identifying letters is not enough; one must know how those letters combine and where to pause. Our app aims for the correct vocalization of letters from the basic level.
